The Glasshouse
Relay.
Two sets of papers.
One greenhouse to prepare.
One of you is the Keeper; the other is the Courier. Each holds different information. Talk, compare clues and solve a three-round puzzle together.
Exactly two adults · No timer · No cutting · Fixed answers

Pick your language. Print two roles.
Each free five-page A4 PDF includes setup, both role sheets, two optional hints and the full worked solution. It is round one of the paid game, with the same answers. You do not need to buy anything to finish it.
Print single-sided at 100% / actual size. Grayscale is fine. Bring two pencils and spare paper. Give page 2 to the Keeper and page 3 to the Courier; keep pages 4–5 face down until you want hints or the solution. Talk freely, but keep your role sheets private.
A look inside the first puzzle.
The community greenhouse is closed for the evening. Four seed trays need arranging for the morning volunteers. Agree on an order from position 1 to position 4, using each tray once.
This web preview contains both roles. For a first play together, use the separate PDF role sheets above. FERN, MOSS, REED and WREN are arbitrary tray codes; no English vocabulary or gardening knowledge is needed.
Keeper · inventory
Your partner has the dispatch rules. Ask which information they need.
| Tray | Mass |
|---|---|
| FERN | 1 |
| MOSS | 2 |
| REED | 3 |
| WREN | 4 |
Courier · dispatch rules
Your partner has the inventory values. Read these rules and agree on one order.
- REED is immediately before FERN.
- MOSS is somewhere after WREN.
- The masses of the first two trays add up to 4 units.
Hint 1
Which two different tray masses can add up to 4?
Hint 2
Those masses belong to FERN and REED. Use their order rule, then place the other pair.
Worked solution · contains the answer
REED / FERN / WREN / MOSS. Only masses 1 and 3 sum to 4. REED must immediately precede FERN, so those are the first two trays in that order. WREN and MOSS remain; MOSS must come after WREN. Every tray is used once. The free round is complete.
From tray order to route to relay code.
The full game adds a map-and-route round and a final code round. Earlier answers feed into later ones. The roles stay separate, and each round has two hints and its own worked solution.
- One ZIP with eight full PDFs: four languages, each in A4 and US Letter.
- 12 pages in each edition. All editions contain the same three-round game.
- One first play: answers stay fixed on replay.
- Personal use and your own internal group sessions; no redistribution of the full files.
One-time digital purchase. Final taxes and available payment methods appear at checkout. Payment, receipts and full downloads are handled by itch.io.
