P01 / Patterns Level 2/3

Keep the differences

In each row, overlay the first two tiles. A dot appearing in both disappears; a dot appearing in only one stays. Which tile completes the last row?

?
A
B
C
D
Hints and solution

Hint 1: Compare positions, not the total number of dots.

Hint 2: In the last row, the top-left dot appears twice. The other three positions appear once.

B. Remove the top-left dot because both tiles contain it. Keep the top-right and bottom-left dots from the first tile, and the bottom-right dot from the second. Three dots remain. The same cancellation rule explains both completed rows.

P07 / Patterns Level 3/3

Two complete sets

Every row and every column contains each shape once: circle, triangle, square. Each also contains each fill once: outline, striped, solid. What is missing?

?
A
B
C
D
Hints and solution

Hint 1: Find the missing shape first, then the missing fill.

Hint 2: The last row already has a square, a circle, a solid fill and a striped fill.

B. The last row needs a triangle with an outline fill. The last column also needs a triangle and an outline, so both the row and column confirm the same tile.

N09 / Numbers Level 2/3

Read every other number

Two arithmetic sequences are interleaved. What fills the gap?

4309261422?
A18
B19
C20
D17
Hints and solution

Hint 1: Separate odd and even positions.

Hint 2: Odd positions read 4, 9, 14.

B: 19. Odd positions increase by 5: 4, 9, 14, 19. Even positions decrease by 4: 30, 26, 22. The gap is in the odd-position sequence.

L17 / Logic Level 3/3

A five-person schedule

Five people appear once each, with no ties. Who appears third?

AAri
BBea
CEli
DDev
Hints and solution

Hint 1: Build the chain Dev, Eli, Ari, Cai.

Hint 2: Insert Bea immediately after Dev.

C: Eli. The clues require Dev before Eli before Ari before Cai, with Cai last. Bea must be immediately after Dev. The unique order is Dev, Bea, Eli, Ari, Cai. Eli is third.
